Peru: Lake Titicaca, Arequipa, Lima

I don't know how people arrive in Cuzco and then hike Machu Picchu without living there for a year first and getting used to the altitude. After four nights in Cuzco I still couldn't really breathe and then we moved up to Puno which has an altitude of 3800+ meters (12,600+ feet) which certainly didn't help air enter my lungs more easily. I really recommend it (well visiting Puno at least).
We came down to Arequipa and spent a day and a half relaxing (aka eating) and visiting the Santa Catalina Convent which was pretty amazing (kind of to my surprise). Back in Lima we saw Tahn & Franz one more time, eating some more delicious food. I leave the country tomorrow and arrive home on Saturday (thanks mom for committing to picking me up at jfk). E comes home a few days later. School starts on Monday- which is crazy. I am really excited to teach again this semester.

Yeah, Irene is making everyone COO-COO-CRAZY out here. Gas stations are out of gas and the Garden State Parkway is already closed going eastbound. Hopefully your flight gets in early in the day! Good luck, snookums.
