ca mini-vacation: Carmel & Monterey

Final stops: Carmel and Monterey. Like our other stops, these towns were absolutely gorgeous. I feel like people who live there are in a completely different country compared to my life in Philadelphia. They must be happier, healthier and saner. Carmel is a super cute town just south of Monterey where we stopped for lunch and walked around for about an hour.
In Monterey we stared at the ocean, cooked chicken sausage over the fire inside our room, jumped into a heated outdoor pool that wasn't too warm and went to the Monterey Aquarium. My favorite exhibits were the seahorses. The pool idea was bad. It was about 40 degrees outside and leaving the pool was freezing! On our drive back to Los Angeles we saw miles and miles of almond trees, lots of oil drilling and snow in the mountains. It was such a contrast to the sunny beaches on the Monterey Peninsula. Next time we hope to make it farther up the coast to San Fransisco and beyond.
